BRIDAL SKINCARE AND HAIR GUIDE
Your wedding day is one of the most photographed and memorable days of your life, and naturally, you want your skin to look flawless. While it’s tempting to try last-minute treatments or new products, the key is to avoid anything that could irritate, sensitize, or disrupt your skin barrier.
There’s a detailed breakdown of things you should do and shouldn’t do based on my experience with the brides.
Chemical Peels or Exfoliating Treatments
Avoid 2 weeks before the wedding, peels and strong exfoliants (like glycolic acid or salicylic acid treatments) can cause redness, peeling, and sensitivity that may not fully subside before the wedding, especially if you have sensitive skin.
If you’re a regular user of chemical toners, peels (BHA/AHA, glycolic, salicylic acids), and you know it won’t affect makeup application, you may use it.
Retinol and Vitamin C serum
Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin, retinaldehyde), Vitamin C can cause flaking, dryness, and sensitivity to makeup products. Discontinue use 2 weeks before the wedding to ensure smooth makeup application and minimize the risk of redness or peeling. Instead, use serums with hyaluronic acids and peptides.
Microneedling
I highly recommend avoiding this treatment. Microneedling creates tiny punctures in the skin to stimulate collagen—but it also temporarily weakens the skin barrier. It can spread bacteria, cause inflammation, and leave behind redness or flaking—avoid it for at least 3–4 weeks before the wedding.
Eyelash and Brow Lift
It’s best to get this done 1 - 2 weeks before the wedding day.
SKINCARE TIPS BEFORE THE WEDDING
HAIRCARE TIPS BEFORE THE WEDDING
Use a Scalp Scrub Shampoo (3–5 Days Before)
Exfoliate your scalp to remove buildup, oil, and dead skin—leaving your roots fresh and clean. Look for one that’s gentle and soothing—especially if your scalp is sensitive.
Wash Your Hair Twice on Wedding Day Morning
The first wash removes oil, sweat, and product buildup, and the second wash properly cleanses the scalp and strands.
This creates the perfect base for styling—your hair will stay fresher longer and hold better.
Cuts and Color
Schedule your trim and color 2 weeks before the wedding.
